We have had six awesome offspring (ages 30, 18, 13, 12, 8 & 6) - so as you can imagine, I've had a fair few slings, carriers, backpacks & allsorts throughout the years. Here are a few of the reasons why I think Moby is the best of the lot - by a mile.
I only discovered Moby in time to use with my youngest two - and oh what a difference. I remember being so annoyed that I didnt have it when I had the other four & had spent years carrying my solid heffalumps with straps & strains on shoulders, neck and back.
It did take me a couple times to practice tying up - once you've got it, piece of cake.
The weight is distributed throughout the whole wrap - so its spread across your shoulders, back, hips and front. Just like wearing a strong tshirt that happens to hold your baby.
Nylon frontpacks get hot & sticky for both mum and bubs walking around in summer. But this is breathable, so none of that.
You're also able to use the fabric and folds to your advantage to shade from the sun & wind at any angle & just like a tshirt, slip a jacket over the top if it gets chilly.
It even looks good when the babys not in it - which is nice not having to undo & store a frontpack 'somewhere' because you have a bulky empty backpack on your front which you'll then have to put back on while your shoulders protest.
The Moby will sit & look like normal clothing with no padding or awkward bits.
So many times people have asked where the baby is & are amazed to find a warm, happy, usually sleeping baby in my shirt that they hadnt noticed before.
Your baby can nap wherever you are without needing any other equipment or space & if they're with you, you know they're warm & you dont have to keep going to check on them or set up a monitor.
One of my sons had silent reflux. Lying on his back to sleep wouldnt last longer than 10 minutes max. If I had him in the wrap, it held him in the perfect position to allow him to relax, burp and sleep at the same time without the pressure & pain of his reflux waking him up constantly. A treasure for him & his tired mumma.
No sweat to wash or dry, & easy to roll up small to put away.
I think thats everything - long & short - highly recommended. You wont regret it. Thanks for your patience and Thanks Moby - love your work.
Cheers,
Erena
